Q 1:Is there a limit for number of visitors? What is required for application?
A:
The prisoner can register up to 3 visitors, they need to submit their Identification Cards for registry.

Q 2:Is there a weight limit for parcels delivered to prisoner?
A:
All items must be registered on the "family delivery list". All items not exceeding 2 kg can be delivered except cigarettes, wines, belnuts, fruits that can be brewed into wine, drugs, cell phones and any other things that may be detrimental to health or influence the discipline adversely (e.g. porno magazine, gambling tools)

Q 3:Who are allowed to visit the prisoner on Sunday and public holidays?
A:
Only those people with their names on the registry are allowed to make bookings for visit with their ID cards at the gate.

Q 4:Is there a shuttle service available to take visitors to the meeting room?
A:
It is quite far to walk from the gate to the meeting room, hence we provide shuttle service for the visitors.

Q 5:Is it possible to meet the prisoner face to face?
A:
There is no glass separating the prisoner from the visitors, hence we hope the visitors can encourage the prisoner and give them a pat on the back.

Q 6:What is the time period for meeting during the working days?
A:
Visitors are allowed to make a booking for visit at 11:30 am, there are one hour and twenty minutes allowed for meeting from 12pm - 1:20pm.

Q 7:What is the time period for meeting on Saturday?
A:
The meeting time period is two hours, i.e. 12 pm - 2 pm every Saturday.

Q 8:What is the time period for meeting on Sunday and Public Holidays?
A:
The meeting time is 3 hours and 20 minutes every Sunday. We welcome every visitor here and we are open for any suggestions as well.

Q 9:Is it necessary to attach the special tag on the parcel to identify the expected recipient?
A:
1. In order to enforce the safety control, it is essential to attach the special tag on the parcel, otherwise the parcel may be returned to sender.
2. The prisoner must apply the special tag to the sender.

Q 10:Is electronic device allowed?
A:
We do not allow personal electronic device, hence we ban the visitor from bringing in any electronic device.

Q 11:Is it possible to make a phone call to prisoner? Is there any time constraint?
A:
Unless under other special circumstances, otherwise the prisoner is allowed to talk on the phone once every 5 days.

Q 12:Who pays for the call?
A:
Either the prisoner or the call receiver.

Q 13:Is there a constraint for amount of money sent to the prisoner?
A:
A prisoner cannot receive more than 8000 NT every time.

Q 14:Is there a limit for amount of money the prisoner can spend?
A:
The prisoner cannot spend more than 200 NT every day.

Q 15:Under what circumstances is the prisoner allowed to go home for family funeral service?
A:
If any of the prisoner's grandparents, parents, spouse's parents, children, brothers and sisters is deceased, the prisoner can apply for home visit to attend the funeral service.

Q 16:Is the prisoner allowed to visit everyone when he goes home?
A:
The prisoner is not allowed to visit other family and friends other than his a direct relation, spouse or other family members living under the same roof. It is essential to render transcript of family register as proof.

Q 17:If the prisoner's grandparents, parents, spouse's parents, spouse, children or brothers and sisters are in life danger, will the prisoner be granted for home visit?
A:
(1) The prisoner has to apply under the special circumstances and render a warranty, it has to be approved by the Ministry of justice and custody during home visit.

(2) This type of application must be submitted to the General Affairs Section.

Q 18:When the prisoner goes home to attend the funeral service, does he need to wear the cuffs?
A:
If the prisoner is older than 70 years old handicapped, he can be exempted from wearing the cuffs.

Q 19:How many home visits are allowed?
A:
(1) Once every 2 months for those prisoners sentence period less than 18 months Once every 3 months for those prisoners sentence period between 18 months to 5 years.Once every 4 months for those prisoners sentence period longer than 5 years
(2) We reserve the right to determine time period of home visit and the issue of home visit permission.

Q 20:What is the time constraint for the home visit?
A:
(1) The time period cannot exceed 40 hours, if there is a 3-day (or longer) public holidays, it can be extended for another 24 hours.
(2) The time period excludes the traveling to and from home, the travel time has to comply the other relevant rules.

Q 21:Once the prisoner has been approved for home visits, do they need to submit the home visit certificate at a police station for stamp?
A:
Yes, it is essential that a prisoner submit the home visit certificate at a police station for stamp.

Q 22:What should the prisoner do if he cannot return to the prison on time?
A:
The prisoner should contact us immediately at 06-5782400 or 5782381 to obtain the oral permission and we would advice a specified returning date and time. The prisoner should submit the accidental proof, for example, he was discharged from the hospital, and a doctor certificate is required.

Q 23:Is it essential for the prisoner to take the home visit certificate with the family contacts registry when he goes home?
A:
Yes, it is essential for the prisoner to ask the family to sign the arrival time and departure time, however if there is any problem or suggestion, we would like to hear from them as well.

Q 24:What kind of punishment would the prisoner face when he did not go back to the prison on time?
A:
We ask the family to remind him the time of departure, since the prisoner would be deemed as escaping if he does not return on time.

Q 25:Is there anything that the prisoner needs to pay attention to during home visit?
A:
The prisoner should not drink, speeding, plot any revenge, socialize or break any rules. We hope the prisoner would spend more time with the family and return on time.

Q 26:What documents are required when applying for home visit?
A:
The prisoner is required to submit a 2" photo, transcript of family register and family approval letter.

Q 27:What kind of requirement must the prisoner's family meet in order to visit the prisoner?
A:
Only the prisoner's spouse and a direct relation are allowed to visit the prisoner and stay in the family hostel. The visitors are reminded to bring their ID card along for identification. The hostel has equipped with water machine, TV, fridge, rice cooker and public telephone.

Q 28:What documents should be submit to apply for family stay?
A:
Please bring your ID card when submitting the application.

Q 29:Is there a shuttle for visitors?
A:
There is a shuttle operating hourly at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm everyday to take the visitors from the entrance to the Admin Area.

Q 30:Is the prisoner required to be cuffed while staying in hospital for medication?
A:
Yes, the prisoner has to be cuffed during medication. We would arrange family visit if necessary.

Q 31:If the prisoner has certain fatal disease, is it possible to get external medication?
A:
We do have doctors on site everyday. If it is not possible to give appropriate medication on site, the prisoner can be placed in the external hospital. However, the period of time he spent in the external hospital is not included in the sentence period.

Q 32:If the prisoner undergoes the drug test and the outcome turns out to be positive, what procedures are we going to undertake?
A:
Firstly, we will conduct an interview, take a urine test for examination. If the outcome is negative (no drug intake), the prisoner will not be punished. However, we will have to punish the prisoner accordingly if the outcome is positive.

Q 33:Under what circumstances would we enforce the prisoner to wear cuffs?
A:
If the prisoner intends to suicide, escape, misbehave or appears to be violent, then we would enforce the prisoner to wear cuffs.

Q 34:What is the purpose of using cuffs?
A:
The primary purpose is to protect the prisoner, hence cuffs are not used for revenge. It can only be used if the prisoner intend to suicide, escape, misbehave or appears to be violent, then we would obtain the approval from an officer in order to do so.

Q 35:How do we punish the prisoner if the prisoner misbehaves?
A:
There are two punishments applicable, the prisoner will be to exhort or warned or suspend the outdoor activities for 1 - 7 days.
